Last night, Sporting Kansas City brought home the hardware once again, snagging their third major trophy in four years in the final of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Tonight, FC Kansas City will try to repeat as champions of the National Women's Soccer League.
Forget Arrowhead Stadium, that song from Oklahoma, and molasses-based barbecue sauce: these days, Kansas City is a soccerin' town.
But don't write off tonight's opponent and last year's runner-up, Seattle Reign-- not only do the Emerald Citizens have much shorter trip to Portland's Providence Park; they also sport a roster overloaded with top international talent.
Stick with SB Nation for everything you need to know to get set for tonight's kickoff, starting with Lauren Barker's big bad match preview!
THE VIEW FROM SEATTLE:
- Eric Flatness of Ride of the Valkyries explains how Seattle is more than a little like Marvel's Avengers. Assemble!
- Jeremiah Oshan of RotV profiles Kim Little, Seattle's not-so-secret Scottish star.
- Sounder at Heart drops a scouting report.
THE SKINNY FROM K.C.:
- Thad Bell of the Blue Testament previews the top stories from the Heartland.
- TbT exchanges three questions on tonight's final with the crew from Sounder at Heart.
