After falling 3-2 in extra time to El Tri in the CONCACAF Cup, U.S. gaffer Jurgen Klinsmann knew his team could use some changes.
He sent first-choice wide man Fabian Johnson home with some stern words to consider. He rearranged the roster to make room for Saturday absentees like Mix Diskerud, Brek Shea, Danny Williams, and Lee Nguyen.
Unfortunately, as it stands, it may be that the gaffer himself is the one in the greatest need of a replacement.
KLINSY AGONISTES: Why isn't Jurgen on the hot seat?
At least for tonight, it's time to put a pin in all this malaise and go win a damn game. Sound good?
We know that two talented teams will throw down tonight at Red Bull Arena. What we don't know is whether the Americans will do anything other than show up after such a deflating, head-scratching, agonizing loss to their biggest rivals. Their reward for that defeat? A date with Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who posted a breakout performance for los Ticos in last summer's World Cup.
Want a prediction? Mix golazo. Twice. No, thrice. Mixy hat trick. Mark it down.
Here's everything you need to know to get set for tonight's 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff:
- Stars & Stripes FC's Rob Usry tells us what to watch for.
- S&SFC's Ryan Rosenblatt analyzes the USMNT's retrofitted roster. Bye, Damarcus!
- Uh, oh... is Red Bull Arena about to be totally friggin' empty again?
