See what happens when you don't play Mix Diskerud?
Other than the beautiful forehead of occasional captain Clint Dempsey, there wasn't much mojo working for the Americans Tuesday night. DeAndre Yedlin couldn't finish. Jozy Altidore couldn't link up. Ventura Alvarado, well, Ventura Alvarado had trouble just standing up straight.
Ol' Klinsy has every reason to want to produce a show of force tonight against a hopelessly-overmatched Haiti side. Relying on Dempsey to slap together one or two detritus goals in defiance of the run of play isn't much of a strategy, at least not during a proper tournament with a golden, twinkling spot in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup on the line.
Will we see Yedlin back at fullback and Fabian Johnson out on the wing? Those two switch roles just about every game now.
Will Gyasi Zardes remain out wide, despite his best performances in the U.S. shirt coming toward the top of the formation?
Can someone, anyone do a half-decent Carli Lloyd impression?
It all goes down at 8:30 p.m. tonight! Here's what we've got for you:
- Rob Usry of Stars and Stripes FC shares what fans should watch for this evening.
- Fellow SB Nation ace Kevin McCauley is up to date with all the top stories leading up to kickoff.
- Check out U.S. Soccer's feature on Jozy Altidore, whose family hails from the land of tonight's opponent.
- Megan Rapinoe went on ESPN. They made a Vine out of it. Please watch, and praise America.
HOW PATRIOTIC WERE YOU TODAY?
