It's on! The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is up for grabs on the banks of the Delaware River.
The combatants are well-known to New York City fans. Hosting tonight's fracas are the Union of Philadelphia, who have appeared just once in the MLS Playoffs, but are making their second overall appearance in the Open Cup final to date. NYCFC faced Philly three times this year, finishing all square with one win, one draw, and one loss.
The Union boys will crash head-on with Sporting Kansas City, who posted a demoralizing 1-0 victory at Yankee Stadium back in March. The Wiz rested star men Dom "Lil' Leroux" Dwyer, Benny "Epic" Feilhaber, and Graham "The Ram" Zusi last week in league play to best prepare for tonight's Cup clash.
Sporting will be favored tonight, and rightfully so. But hey, why did Rice play Texas?
Let's check out the hottest-of-the-hot match previews and top stories from SB Nation's best and brightest!
