We're now just several weeks away from the 2016 MLS Season, and we may have already gotten a sneak peak as to what NYCFC will be wearing on Opening Day. Yesterday on Twitter Cailey Golden, NYCFC supporter and a member of Blue Ladies of NYC, tweeted out this image:
@NYCFC 2016 AWAY KIT? pic.twitter.com/jDnVTZjdoN— Cailey Golden (@caileygolden) January 20, 2016
Golden told us that the image appeared on Pro:Direct Soccer's online shop, available for "pre-order." Listed as NYCFC's 2016 away jersey, the item was quickly taken down from the site.
While we at Hudson River Blue cannot confirm this will in fact be the new away kit for 2016, we are pretty sure it will be as the photo was reportedly taken from an overseas online retailer. Here are a few takeaways from the news of a new away kit for 2016:
- I really liked the black away kit, and I will miss it if it is indeed gone now.
- On the other hand, I really like the color scheme here. The dark blue and orange scream "New York" and it's nice to see NYCFC stay in line with at least one kit being representative of where they play.
- I hope we get to see them where these kits for every Hudson River Derby match this season.
I can confirm this is not the #NYCFC 2016 secondary kit. https://t.co/HFHOeOPjVS— Michael LoRé (@michaellore) January 21, 2016
Seems like this maybe a possible alternate kit, or maybe even a preseason/practice kit we won't see during the season.
But what do you think? Are you fan of the new kit? Do you hate it? How do you think the club will use it?
