The Silly Season giveth, and the Silly Season giveth some more.
Ghana Soccernet wrote today that young midfielder Ebenezer Ufori, currently of Swedish side AIK Solna, has parlayed a run of form into a number of transfer overtures. Clubs from Germany, France, and Turkey are reportedly interested, as well as London boys West Ham United.
Additionally, LA Galaxy and New York City FC are said to be in the mix for Ufori, though no sourcing is to be found in this otherwise splendid piece of Silly Season prose.
Ufori, who may be up for consideration for Avram Grant’s provisional Black Stars squad in advance of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, is a central-lying mid who can play deep and also provide cover out wide to the left. He’s contributed three goals and three assists in 27 league appearances for AIK this year, plus one of each over five Europa League qualifying games.
Transfermarkt gives him an estimated market value of just over $730,000, with performance data suggesting that he’s a plus-passer who likes to crank a shot or two from distance.
Seriously, watch this and let your eyes piss tears:
We don’t know anything about anything right now, folks, but suffice to say that this young chap will cost Claudio Reyna fewer pretty pennies than Sami Khedira. As a young player with broad European interest and eyes for playing for Ghana, it would be unwise to get one’s hopes up that Ebenezer Ofori is a likely get for Major League Soccer.
But let’s enjoy the Silly Season for what it is. In the meantime, dude has a 72 rating in FIFA 17.
Grab them sticks and go wild.
