About this time last year, New York City FC were felled in friendly action by a Danish side, Brondby IF.

Tonight in Bradenton, the good guys will have another shot at an opponent from Denmark, HB Koge. This team plies its trade in the Danish 1st Division, which is actually the second division (Brondby sits pretty in the top-flight Danish Superliga).

NYCFC enters the affair on a preseason winning streak, with Patrick Mullins's clincher on Wednesday against Montreal making it three in a row. With MLS play launching in just over two weeks, Patrick Vieira's team will hope for more of the same tonight: bossing possession, dynamic play in the wide areas, and bend-don't-break defending.

Three Things to Know About HB Koge

  • Their squad's total value is estimated at $3.15 million, according to Transfermarkt. New York City's estimated squad value? $22.93 million.

  • Last season, the Svanerne (Swans) finished seventh in the Danish "1st" Division.

  • The club was founded in 2009 when two previous sides merged.
Three Things to Watch for Tonight

  • MIDFIELD MYSTERIES: New York City isn't lacking in talented midfielders. But what we've yet to see is a clear go-to grouping to populate the middle of Vieira's preferred 4-3-3 setup. Does Mix Diskerud have the requisite steel? Is Kwadwo Poku best used as a super-sub in this scheme? How heavily will Andrew Jacobson figure into NYCFC's plans this year? We ought to come one step closer to answering these questions tonight.

  • 5 BOROUGHS, 3 CENTER BACKS: In the later stages of Wednesday's win, the Blues shifted to three at the back in order to give the midfield more juice. With Jacobson dropping deep to support the back line and Mikey Lopez helping to lead the ball forward into the danger zone, the good guys improved their play up the middle and were able to gin up the winning goal.

  • PUBLIC IMG LIMITED: The last time NYCFC played a friendly at IMG Academy, the in-house video stream was of shameful, shambolic quality. That is, of course, unless you like screen resolution from the Precambrian Era and plenty of chatter and construction noises in the background. Hopefully, the folks in Bradenton have addressed the quality issues, because the IMG stream isn't free! (This is America: if something sucks, you're supposed to be able to get your money back.)
