Tommy McNamara makes MLS Team of the Week

#SoccerSunday was filled with a number of amazing goals and plays in what turned out to be a very excited opening day of soccer in MLS. None of them more exciting than Tommy McNamara's golazo which opened up all scoring for the 2016 season. If you've somehow managed to not see this majestic unicorn of a goal, here it is:

McNamara was not done for the afternoon either, as he also contributed an assist to Mix who delivered with a gorgeous volley to seal the win for NYCFC. Again, feel free to enjoy the wonderful highlight again and again right here:

After doing a great job of keeping his dribble McNamara a perfectly weighted ball to Mix, who did just what you'd want him to  do with such a beautiful pass: rifle it into the back of the net. But fans of the club were not the only ones who appreciated T- Mac's performance this past weekend. The flying mullet also found himself named on the mlssoccer.com's Team of the Week for Week 1 as well.

All told, McNamara finished the day with 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots and 4 chances created. It was a breakthrough performance that is sure to keep him in Patrick Vieira's good graces. Let's hope McNamara has more performances like this in store for the 2016 season!
