The match itself wasn't lacking for highlights. But something happened in the bleachers after Jason Hernandez was sent off for a second yellow card with five minutes of the ninety remaining.
A chant happened.
But unlike most fan-orchestrated efforts in the Yankee Stadium supporters section -- sections 236 and 238 don't often work in unison, for instance -- this one caught on, and hard.
I've only missed one NYCFC home game, so I think it's safe for me to say that the bleachers have never felt more united, more committed, more urgent in their support of the team in crunch time. #ComeOnNewYork simply dazzled. Once it started, it didn't stop for a half hour. From the end of the ninety minutes and into stoppage time, the stadium rocked. And it didn't end after the final whistle blew.
