After making a splash in the first two rounds of the MLS SuperDraft last week, NYCFC kept the momentum going today. In this afternoon’s proceedings, the Bronx Blues made two third round picks: New Hampshire midfielder Chris Wingate (54th overall) and Louisville defender Michael DeGraffenreidt (60th).

A back-to-back winner of the America East Conference’s midfielder of the year award, the Norwegian-born Wingate finished a four-year career with the UNH Wildcats with 13 goals and 15 assists to his name. He was a participant in last week’s MLS SuperDraft combine.

Likewise a combine invitee, DeGraffenreidt made 76 starts over 77 total appearances for the Louisville Cardinals. The 5’10” Baltimore native was named to the All-American Athletic Conference second team as a freshman back in 2013. A first-choice center back in college, he makes up for his lack of elite size with some notable aerial ability, and projects well as a right fullback at the professional level.

Welcome to the Five Boroughs, Chris and Michael!
