It’s happening. IT’S HAPPENING. IT HAS HAPPENED. The famous Etihad shirt just got famouser.
Called it! New #NYCFC shirt leaked, and the jock tag is... the NYC flag. Our own monogrammed version, not the inaccurate Wikipedia one. pic.twitter.com/BXacj38ur3

A navy blue collar! Accented sleeves! The New York City flag on the tail! Yes. YES. This is the shirt that Jonathan Lewis will wear when he notches eight assists in one game. This is the shirt that David Villa shall don when he brokers peace in the Middle East. This is the shirt Tommy McNamara will sport when he’s elected Pope.
Ah! The scenes. Can we play some real matches right now, please?
*A shuffling of papers is heard*
Now, to be fair, this is a leaked design. It’s not officially official yet. But considering the teases and possible hints we’ve seen so far this year...

All but confirms the new #NYCFC kit pic.twitter.com/ktFRTTAzFb
Check. That. Shit. OUT! I’m getting chills.
The plan was always to stagger the kit changes-- the original Man Cityish sky blue home shirt stuck for two years, while the snazzy black away number was jettisoned after Year One to make way for the Super Doppler Radar navy-blue shirt, which will remain the road jersey this year.
On balance, count us among those excited to see something a little different happening — even if it is just a little — with the primary shirt for 2017.
