WATCH: You won’t believe what’s inside the 2017 NYCFC City Members package

You have surely heard the word ‘unboxing’ a hell of a lot recently. It feels like a new term, but it describes a practice that has existed for some time: opening a container with your hands and taking things out of it by also using your hands. Don’t be fooled, though— there’s nothing mundane about what you are about to see.

As New York City FC’s 2017 City Member packages for season ticket holders finally dropped this week, we’ve witnessed Soccer Christmas. Fans far and wide popped open their glorious sky blue parcels and beamed at them as they beamed right back like Marcellus Wallace’s briefcase. In broad terms, Tim Roth would agree: it’s beautiful.

But the more we thought about it, there more complicated this year’s package really became. Folks, there are narratives at play that we still don’t understand— this video even gets blurry for two minutes in the middle due to what we can only assume is interference by paranormal forces.
