SEISMIC SATURDAY: New York City FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes (2pm ET, YES Network)

The Boys in Blue are back home in search of a second win.

MLS: New York City FC at San Jose Earthquakes Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Dominic Kinnear’s San Jose Earthquakes arrive this afternoon in the Bronx as one of just a select few MLS clubs never to have defeated NYCFC. The two teams fought to a goalless stand-still in August of 2016, but who could forget the day Ned Grabavoy disemboweled the Quakes in Year One?

Lucky Ned may be among the ranks of the retired these days, but New York City has somehow found a way to create more and still-more chances without him. New boys Maxi Moralez and Rodney Wallace have looked lively and lethal three games into the 2017 campaign, while the two Alexes — midfielder Ring and center back Callens — have been utterly ruthless on the pitch since making their MLS debuts on March 5th.

Of course, gaffer Patrick Vieira isn’t discounting today’s opponent, who bring with them rugged USMNT center forward Chris Wondolowski and in-form Panama midfielder/science fiction movie villain Anibal Godoy.

“They have some individual talents, especially in the midfield and one of the top scorers in the league over the last few years up front,” Vieira told NYCFC.com this week. “As a team, they’re strong.”

Are you going to the game? There are two things you really must know about in order to truly win the day:

OK! Got it? Got it.
