With so much talent in the wide positions, third-year man Khiry Shelton has struggled to snag playing time with this year’s version of New York City FC. And today, the latest news suggests that Shelton’s big moment — if it is to arrive — will be put on hold for at least a month.
NYCFC announced that Shelton tweaked his hamstring after coming on from the substitute’s bench in the second half of Friday’s 2-0 win over Philadelphia at Talen Energy Stadium. It was his fourth appearance for the Bronx Blues this season.
Shelton figures to miss at least three games as he recovers: this Sunday vs. Orlando City, Saturday 4/29 at Columbus, and 5/7 vs. Atlanta. He could very well miss out on the next three if his rehab doesn’t go as well as it possibly could: 5/14 at FC Dallas, 5/17 at Real Salt Lake, and 5/21 at Orlando City.
Hurry back, Khiry!
