The first of many for these young guns.

We’re the biggest fans of Ben Sweat in this entire earthly realm. We’re constantly bewitched by the do-it-all stylings of Yangel Herrera.

We also like it when New York City beats the Red Bulls. And because of those two fantastic beasts, that event suddenly feels normal.

Fitting that both players made their first starts for NYCFC alongside one another, a smashing 3-2 victory at Columbus on April 29th. It was poetic: Herrera goes skyward to nod home a goal. Sweat dekes out a former teammate to play in the assisting cross. Indeed, a sign of so much more to come.

And today, these two cosmically-linked talents are back together again: on Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week.
