Sean Johnson, David Villa invade MLS Team of the Week

The universe is just.

: New York City FC at Columbus Crew SC Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

The plaudits just keep coming in this week for the two men that constitute the bookends of New York City FC’s second-place squad.

Witness David Villa, MLS Goal of the Week nominee, Keymaster, reigning MLS Player of the Week, Golden Boot Leader, and Mother of Dragons.

Witness Sean Johnson, MLS Save of the Week Nominee, Gatekeeper, Hero of the Battle of Los Angeles, and Stallion Who Mounts the World.

For their sublime exploits in Saturday night’s 2-0 victory over the Galaxy in Carson, both operators were awarded a spot on Major League Soccer’s weekly honor role.

(Oh, and Alex Ring was named to the “bench.”)

Word of advice: instead of letting all of this week’s NYCFC adulation get lost in the shuffle, just appreciate as much as you can while it’s happening.

Try, anyway. Winning comes at you fast; losing likes to slow things down, put its feet up, and eat all your f—ing snacks.
