Jack Harrison, David Villa featured in new FIFA 18 trailer

We global now, boiii!!!!

MLS: Minnesota United FC at New York City FC Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Fans of New York City FC might have seen two familiar faces in the latest trailer for the upcoming FIFA 18. As pointed out by the team’s Twitter, those faces belong to none other than NYC’s wunderkind Jack Harrison as well as reigning MLS MVP David Villa.

For hardcore FIFA players such as myself, this is quite the enjoyable sight. Any representation of NYCFC in such a globally beloved video game is pretty sick, not to mention the obvious nod to both the present and future of the club by using Villa and Harrison specifically:

It should also be noted that it seems Jack has even gotten a face scan this year; a face scan being the ultra-realistic recreation of a player’s physical appearance. For those who may not know, not every player’s likeness in FIFA is accurately portrayed, whether it be in relation to their real-life abilities or just their appearance. And for EA Sports - the game’s developer - to put that much more effort into accurately portraying New York City’s prodigy is all the softer to the touch.

To put that all into perspective and show why that is a big deal, I give you this tidbit: Christian Pulisic, arguably the best American footballer in the world, did not have a face scan in FIFA 17. And to add insult to injury, he started with a 69 overall rating. Though, it should be noted that he did a get a card as highly rated as 88 towards the end of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season.

We at Hudson River Blue congratulate both Harrison and Villa on being global ambassadors for the team. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself below!
