Leading the MLS pack, David Villa rated at 82 in EA Sports’ FIFA 18

Justice served.

While the worldwide release of the newest edition of EA Sports’ flagship title won’t come for another sixteen days, NYCFC fans got themselves an early gift this week.

As player ratings are slowly rolled out in advance of the big launch, reigning league MVP David Villa sits at the top of the heap in MLS.

The age-defying New York City captain is justly rewarded for following a smashing 2016 campaign with another compelling run this year: his nineteen goals place him in pole position for the Golden Boot, an honor he has yet to claim since coming stateside.

Whether or not el Guaje can see it through and repeat as MVP remains to be seen; for now, we’re happy enough that nobody beats his gorgeous 82 rating in our favorite sports video game.

(Didja see that? Andrea Pirlo not only still has a 79— his defensive rating is higher than Villa’s. Go figure.)
