Knee-Jerk Reactions: New York City vs. D.C. United

HRB’s real-time reactions to the calamity in the nation’s capital.

MLS: New York City FC at D.C. United Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. These were our unfiltered thoughts as they played out in real time — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

These were my reactions to New York City FC’s terrible 3-1 loss to D.C. United:

First Half

1’: No Ismael Tajouri-Shradi. Like, what!?

5’: Yikes. Too close for comfort.

8’: There’s no other way to put it. We are absolutely trash.

17’: City just looks out of it. No aggression, no possession. Nothing. This three-week break might have been WORSE for us

24’: Is there even a point to watching this team anymore? This is legit depressing.

32’: Amagat is terrible

45’: LOL! That’s all I have to say.

Second Half

57’: “No sign of intelligent life anywhere.” - Buzz Lightyear

68’: I have no confidence in us getting back into this game. Zero.

69’: C’MON!!!!

74’: Welp. That’s it, folks.

78’: Well, at least we got one.

90+4: If it wasn’t my job to cover this club, I’d take a sabbatical until the playoffs.
