Major League Soccer has released its annual 22 Under 22 list, a ranking of the top young players in the league. And sure enough, New York City FC have some skin in the game.
NYCFC’s first-ever Young DP Jesus Medina and Manchester City loan Yangel Herrera both made the the top-10 of the list, ranking at 8th and 4th place respectively.

Though not without his criticisms, Medina has performed well in his first season in the Bronx and has amassed 6 goals and 4 assists in 19 total appearances. Herrera, on the other hand, has been out of the squad since sustaining a brutal ankle injury against the Houston Dynamo back in May. But the Venezuelan's absence has been felt hard by NYCFC.
The good news is that Herrera is almost match fit and, if everything goes according to plan, could be available for the final two games of the season against DC United and the Philadelphia Union.

Congrats to both Medina and Herrera on this accomplishment. Now, if only we could get the powers-that-be over at MLS to not give James Sands the snub next time...
