It’s been a long time since we last heard about Saad Abdul-Salaam. The New York City FC right back was sent on season-long loan to Phoenix Rising FC — Didier Drogba’s baby — back in August. And while the Boys in Blue are struggling just to live another day in the MLS Cup Playoffs, Abdul-Salaam is having a ball down in USL where his (temporary) Phoenix side will be taking on Louisville City — the defending champs — in the USL Cup final.

Louisville City has also received their fair share of NYCFC loans this season with young midfielder James Sands doing a short stint there in the summer and, most recently, Jonathan Lewis being sent there for the remainder of the USL season and has since returned to the Bronx.
We wish Saad the best of luck tonight and hope he brings Phoenix Rising their first piece of silverware!
