Last Thursday, New York City FC announced a partnership with StubHub that will make the online ticket exchange the “Club’s Official Fan to Fan Ticket Resale Marketplace.” Founded back in 2000, StubHub is involved with ticket sales for many sports teams and concert venues (fun fact: they are owned by eBay). Along with this partnership, however, comes some changes to the club’s ticket policy that you should be aware of.
Now — per Yankee Stadium policy — the use of print-at-home PDFs has been discontinued; instead, the club will use a system of mobile ticketing (the same system that has been available in the past). Mobile tickets are compatible with iOS, Android, or any other smartphone that can browse the internet; iPhone users can load tickets into Apple Wallet. Additionally, NYCFC will continue to offer SeasonCards (for City Members only) and traditional paper tickets.
If you don’t have a smartphone, or if your phone dies, you can pick up your tickets at the ticket offices near Gate 4 at Yankee Stadium, as long as you have proof of identification.
Ticket resale is available through StubHub and other similar sites. Though you can always transfer your extra tickets to friends instead through NYCFC AccountManager.
If you have any questions about the changes to the ticket policy, the club has set up an FAQ page.
