Knee-Jerk Reactions: New England vs. New York City

Hudson River Blue’s reactions to NYCFC’s 2-2 draw against the Revs

MLS: New York City FC at New England Revolution Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

‘Knee-Jerk Reactions’ is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here is what I thought of New York City FC’s scrappy contest against the New England Revolution, in which both teams got a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Foxborough, MA.

First Half

3’: Defensive turnovers like that are so 2016

10’: How many fouls is that now?

11’: *deep sigh*

17’: Can we PLEASE get out of our own half!?

19’: Two good chances stopped cold. At least we have a bit of life, I guess

31’: Ben Sweat doesn’t look like his normal self

36’: Ebenezer Ofori is so hot and cold

39’: Almost went down by two right there

45’: We are just so damned wasteful right now

Second Half

46’: Streamers are stupid. Fight me

51’: What a sexy counter-attack leading to a goal! 1-1

63’: One step forward, two steps back. Down 2-1

67’: I wonder how long it takes for Vieira to make a sub today

75’: Ismael Tajouri-Shradi is something special. Great finish!

79’: Still no subs, and we are approaching the final ten minutes

87’: Vieira, you do know you have seven other players, right?

90’: Anti-climactic finish. Seemed too content with just a point, but I’ll take it I guess

Thank you for reading my rambling, mid-game thoughts. I’ll have my apologies at the ready.
