Knee-Jerk Reactions is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.
Here is what I thought of New York City FC’s comeback win against the San Jose Earthquakes:
First Half
PG: Why is Maxime Chanot wearing the captain’s armband?
PG: Oh, that’s why.
2’: Perfect.
6’: Absolutely no cohesion in the midfield whatsoever. Ebenezer Ofori looks very unimpressive thus far
14’: Is it too late to give Jo Inge Berget and Ofori back to whoever gave them to us?
15’: Well, that was almost really bad
17’: “Saad Abdul-Saddam”
18’: Ismael Tajouri-Shradi is a beast
24’: Why is Berget out wide right there?
36’: If Saad is hurt, that’s big trouble
Second Half
46’: Jesus Medina now playing in the middle
49’: I SEE YOU, ANTON TINNERHOLM!
55’: We’re gonna concede again at this rate
59’: Maxi Moralez strikes again! 2-1 City
73’: That looked really bad
77’: I don’t like it when we play defensively
79’: Sean Johnson deserves a raise after this
87’: What is everyone fighting about?
90+5: Maxi could have put it out of reach right there
FT: That was a long one. Good job, though
Thank you for reading my rambling, mid-game thoughts. I’ll have my apologies at the ready.
