Sean Johnson makes MLS Team of the Week

Anton Tinnerholm almost made the bench for Week 5

MLS: New York City FC at San Jose Earthquakes Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off his amazing performance in the 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes this past weekend, New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson has been awarded a spot in MLS’s Team of the Week for Week 5 of the 2018 season.

Johnson had 9 saves in a game that required NYCFC to dig deep and pull out a come-from-behind victory. This type of win became a signature for the Boys in Blue throughout the 2017 season.

Additionally, on this week’s bench was fullback Anton Tinnerholm who — in only his third game with the club — scored a second golazo for New York City on Saturday.

Both Johnson and Tinnerholm played huge roles in helping City remain unbeaten this weekend, and we know that these TotW selections are only going to become more frequent should NYCFC be able to maintain their cohesion and keep up the pace.

Congrats, Boys!
