Knee-Jerk Reactions: New York City vs. Dallas

Hudson River Blue’s real-time reactions NYCFC’s 3-1 victory over the Toros

MLS: FC Dallas at New York City FC Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here were my real-time reactions to New York City FC’s 3-1 win against FC Dallas:

First Half

2’: Berget has to make that touch work

3’: Jesus Medina poking that one in made me so happy! Great to see him getting on the scoresheet

8’: There’s the Sean Johnson we know and love

10’: Has anyone seen Yangel Herrera recently? NYCFC has been looking for him

15’: We gotta regain our composure. This game is getting away from us

21’: City has regained control, but we need something to show for it

24’: Alex Ring is the best player on the team. Quote me!

26’: David Villa has to find Medina on the wing there. Oh well...

32’: THAT’S A HANDBALL, REF!!

36’: Villa steps up and grabs his 400th career goal! 2-1

40’: You have to score that, Herrera. There’s no excuse

45’+2: Maxi Moralez almost just scored a banger!

Second Half

46’: Johnson forced into work right off the bat, but it’s no problem

50’: Great pass by Villa and great run by Maxi. No goal though

58’: NYCFC aren’t as much in control as they were in the first half. But still, no real sacry moments yet

65’: SeanJohn with the huge save!

69’: “Don’t piss off David Villa!” 3-1 good guys

73’: Annnnnnd Rodney Wallace comes on. Not like Jonathan Lewis needs minutes or anything...

79’: Another big stop from Johnson!

83’: Sebastien Ibeagha has been solid all night

90’+4: Big win for the boys!

Thank you for reading my mid-game ramblings. See you all next week!
