Knee-Jerk Reactions: Houston vs. New York City

Hudson River Blue’s real-time reactions to NYCFC’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Houston

MLS: New York City FC at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here is what I thought of New York City FC’s poor performance in a 3-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo:

First Half

1’: I still don’t know who’s starting where

2’: Yikes.

6’: What a strike from David Villa! 1-0

14’: Losing Yangel Herrera could hurt. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.

20’: Sean Johnson doing Sean Johnson things

21’: Welp.

27’: No, Maxi. Just no.

38’: NYCFC have become completely lethargic in the latter stage of this half

45’+1: C’mon, Tinnerholm...

45’+: That was scrappy, for lack of a better word

Second Half

47’: El Guaje almost found himself a second straight brace

54’: Honestly, this game has been incredibly boring

58’: SeanJohn to the rescue!

63’: C’mon, T-Mac...

69’: UGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

76’: Should’ve converted on that one

80’: Welp, that does it.

90’+4: That was a chore to watch. Just a bad effort. Some changes need to be made moving forward.

Thank you for reading my mid-game ramblings. See you all next week!
