New York City FC have announced that defender Alex Callens has received his United States green card. Due to this, the Peruvian center back will no longer count as an international player on NYCFC’s roster.

The extra international spot comes just ahead ahead of the summer transfer window, allowing NYCFC to possibly look abroad for another player that could potentially help their effort to get a trophy in 2018.
Callens has been an absolute iron man for City since arriving to the club during the 2017 preseason. Through a roughly a season and a half, Callens has rarely missed any minutes and is constantly featured in NYCFC’s starting lineup.
Congrats, Alex! Hopefully, this means you plan on staying with us for some time.
