Knee-Jerk Reactions: New York City vs. Toronto

Hudson River Blue’s real-time reactions to City’s 2-1 win over the Reds

MLS: Toronto FC at New York City FC Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here is what I thought of New York City FC’s 2-1 win over Toronto FC:

First Half

5’: Ring almost got his first home goal!

7’: Almost had another #TinnerBoom

11’: I wonder if Berget will ever score again...

15’: Looked to be a clean tackle from Ring. Oh well...

18’: What a chance! Closer...

24’: C’mon!!!!

25’: Villa is hurt. Dammit...

37’: sigh

43’: How do we NOT get a goal there?

46’: Lousy half. No ruthlessness.

Second half

51’: FINALLY! The Viking evens the game at one goal apiece

60’: City is getting close to gaining the advantage

62’: No VAR on the handball. Wow.

68’: WHAT AM I SEEING!? Berget strikes again! 2-1 City

79’: City still on the offensive

83’: “OLE!”

88’: Nice to see you too, Jonathan Lewis!

91’: That was scary!

94’: What a win! Great start to this new era.

Thank you for reading my mid-game ramblings. See you next week!
