“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. We’ll share our unfiltered thoughts on the game at hand — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.
Here were my reactions to New York City FC’s 1-0 triumph over the rival New York Red Bulls:
First Half
PG: No word has been given regarding Jo Inge Berget missing this game. He wasn’t listed on the injury report, and nothing has yet been announced prior to kickoff. Going with Rodney Wallace over Jonathan Lewis will undoubtedly cause some to scratch their heads. Let’s hope Dome knows something I don’t.
1’: Maxi Moralez out wide? Hmmm...
10’: This game has started off super anti-climactic. That’s not necessarily a bad thing
15’: Wallace being offsides there hurts
18’: DAMMIT! Someone score!
26’: We’re playing well. But if we don’t score first, this game could be trouble
35’: Ofori completely muffed that counter. Very poor decision.
45’2: Tied at half. C’mon, you Boys!
Second Half
46’: I’ve got that nervous feeling in my stomach
48’: Alex Callens and Ben Sweat both with big tackles early
58’: Didn’t expect to see Matarrita come on for ITS, especially this early. Oh well..
63’: Callens playing great tonight
67’: Ohhhh Rodney...
72’: So. Many. Offsides.
74’: That was scary
77’: Damn you, Robles
85’: YES!!!!!! Lewis, you earned that assist!
90’ Clutch stop from Sean Johnson
FT: THANK YOU!!!! Victory at last!
