New York City FC going down two men due to red cards against the New York Red Bulls, and still being able to pull out a 1-1 draw is extremely impressive. A big reason for the Boys in Blue being able to stick it out was their amazing defensive effort.
Center back Sebastien Ibeagha — who was added to NYCFC earlier this year after trialing with the club — was particularly impactful. According to his game log on WhoScored.com, the Nigerian-born defender made 1 tackle, 1 interception, and a whopping 9 clearances in the latest edition of the Hudson River Derby. For his efforts, MLS named him to the Team of the Week for Week 26.

It’s kind of annoying to see two Red Bull players — Kaku and Kemar Lawrence, the latter of whom should be suspended right now — make the TotW after their full-strength team failed to dispatch of a 9-man NYCFC side. But, MLS is gonna MLS.
Congratulations to Ibeagha for this achievement. He is more than deserving of it and we at Hudson River Blue would love to see him continue to grow as a player during his tenure in the five boroughs.
