Jonathan Lewis loaned to USL’s Louisville City

MLS: Montreal Impact at New York City FC Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Well, this is probably the most depressing story I’ve had to write about all season. In a move that came almost out of nowhere, it was announced today that New York City FC winger Jonathan Lewis will be going on loan to Louisville City until the end of the USL season, which will be on October 13.

Considering the fact that I believe that Lewis is more than good enough to start on NYCFC, I think this news sucks. But, we should take into account that Louisville City also fostered the young James Sands in August and gave him playing time until he was recalled by the team on September 1. And now, we find ourselves in a situation where Sands has started the last two games and was even featured in MLS’s Team of the Week last week.

If Louisville can do the same with Lewis before he returns next month, then this situation is a net positive for all involved.

We here at Hudson River Blue are openly huge fans of Lewis and feel he should be featured more for NYCFC. And if this can help, then we’re all for it.

Good luck, Jonathan!
