Jonathan Lewis bags assist in first appearance with Louisville

Our favorite outcast is making a statement down in USL

I could’ve most definitely told you this myself. But guess what? Jonathan Lewis is really good!

In his first appearance with Louisville City since joining on loan from New York City FC earlier this week, Lewis bagged an assist in what what would ultimately be a 3-0 win against Penn FC for the Kentucky-based club.

In the 28th minute, Lewis found himself on the left flank. After displaying some nice skill against a Penn defender, Lewis crossed the ball far-post and found a relatively unmarked Niall McCabe who delivered a pretty fire finish.

In what was ultimately a 63-minute shift, Lewis constantly displayed his pace and skill on the ball in his USL debut and was a significant force for Louisville’s offense. We expect and hope for more of the same from the young winger as it could help endear himself to the powers-that-be in New York and possibly earn him some time when he returns in October, much like it did for James Sands before him.

Of course, that’s wishful thinking at best. But, “power of positivity” and all that jazz.
