Knee-Jerk Reactions: New York City vs. Minnesota

HRB’s angry reactions to NYCFC’s failure against the Loon

MLS: New York City FC at Minnesota United FC Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. These were our unfiltered thoughts as they played out in real time — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here were my reactions to New York City FC’s 2-1 loss to Minnesota United:

First Half

3’: Decent opportunity there. Good play by Ring

6’: Schuller-v-Ring should be a fun midfield battle to watch

14’: Decent attempt from Taty

18’: Ofori has looked really good so far. He had that one bad giveaway early, but has more than made up for it

20’: Dammit

24’: Not even a look for violent contact on that elbow?

27’: Close, but close doesn’t count

29’: Wake up!

33’: That should be a penalty!

36’: This sucks

45’+1: Gonna be one of those games where I’m counting the moments until it’s over.

Second Half

51’: (snoring sounds)

56’: That was actually a decent cross. Sucks that this team doesn’t know how to score.

60’: Where was this intensity in the first half?

63’: C’mon, Ofori!

67’: I can’t with this ref

73’: “I know exactly what this team needs! Let’s put in Rodney Wallace! You know, the guy who hasn’t scored since last May.”

76’: Minnesota going down a man can’t hurt, I guess

87’: This team is rough to watch. Nothing is going right. Outside of the Chicago game, we look like one of the worst teams in the league.

90’+1: Meaningless goal. But hey, at least we can hold that goal-scoring drought over Wallace’s head anymore.

FT: (laughs in Vieira)
