Knee-Jerk Reactions: New York City vs. New England

HRB’s real-time reactions to NYCFC’s 1-0 loss to the Revs

MLS: New England Revolution at New York City FC Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

“Knee-Jerk Reactions” is Hudson River Blue’s series of what we were thinking throughout the match. These were our unfiltered thoughts as they played out in real time — no editing, no revisions. Just raw, pure emotion.

Here were my reactions to New York City FC’s 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution

First Half

1’: Please don’t tell me Mata is already hurt?

5’: That was close

9’: C’mon, Taty. That’s gotta be a goal

14’: Armando Villareal should’ve played the advantage there. That’s a golden opportunity just gone

17’: So many good chances for NYCFC, but still no goal

21’: C’MOOOONNN!!!!

25’: Inches away from disaster there

40’: Mata would’ve gotten sent off had that gone to review

45’+1: How did we not end up with a goal that half?

Second Half

48’: Is Taty afraid to shoot?

58’: VAR is useless

61’: It’s official. We’re incapable of scoring

71’: New England scores. This is absolutely whack.

84’: We are allergic to goals

90’+5: Embarrassing loss. It’s getting progressively harder to watch this team
