Though I must admit that I’m quite disappointed more transfer news hasn’t been reported to this point, New York City FC have finally announced... well, something ahead of the 2019 MLS preseason: an entry — along with Orlando City, Minnesota United, and the New England Revolution — into the inaugural Orlando City Invitational that runs from February 16 to February 20
NYCFC will report to Florida for preseason training on February 12 and compete against Orlando on February 16 and Minnesota on February 20. Upon the invitational’s completion, the team with the most points will receive a trophy.
From there, NYCFC will set upon Nashville, TN to take on Nashville SC in their final schedule preseason matchup on February 22.
This high density of games within a one-week period should give NYCFC a good chance to test the depth of their club and give certain players who haven’t gotten a copious amount of minutes — like Jonathan Lewis, James Sands, and Daniel Bedoya — to potentially shine, though we hope more signings can and will be made before then.
Hook us up, Claudio!
