Finally, some good news this week.
After a month of speculation, New York City FC confirmed this afternoon that Maxi Moralez — who has been with the club since 2017 — has signed a new two-year Designated Player contract ahead of his current contract’s expiration after this year.
In his third year with the club, Moralez has had an excellent 2019 season. In 28 games, the diminutive attacking midfielder has collected 7 goals and a staggering 20 assists, the latter of which is good for the best in all of MLS.
“I’m very happy to extend my contract with the Club for two more years,” Moralez told NYCFC.com. “I want to thank the Club and the fans for letting me be a part of this team. The decision was easy because we are a family and when you feel that way it makes it easier.”
Since the 2017 season, Moralez has played 89 games with the club. In those games, he’s collected 20 goals and 45 assists. At 32 years old, Maxi definitely still has plenty in the tank as is expected to continue delivering spectacular performances in the future.
We’re happy to have you, Maxi!
