Well, the reports have rung true. Today, New York City FC announced that the club and manager Domé Torrent have decided to mutually part ways. Leaving with Domé will be assistant coaches, Albert Puig and Jordi Gris, Director of Performance Francesc Cos, and Head of Performance Ismael Camenforte.

Despite a rocky start after taking over the club last summer, Torrent lead NYCFC to a first place finish in 2019 — with a franchise record 64 points — before being eliminated the first time of asking by Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference Semifinals due to two costly defensive errors.

While I’ll admit that I wasn’t always Domé’s biggest fan, he won me over progressively through results and the way he had the team playing throughout most of 2019. I wish him and his staff the very best moving forward.

Hopefully, Domé’s replacement can finish what he started and lead us to a first-ever MLS Cup.
