Last week, New York City FC announced the signing of Brazilian forward Héber from Croatian club HNK Rijeka. Héber is expected to fill the huge void NYCFC currently has at the striker position.
Unfortunately for the Blues, the Brazilian might not make his MLS debut this weekend.
Earlier today, NYCFC posted an interview with manager Domé Torrent in regards to Héber and why he still hasn’t reported to his first training session ahead of the Pigeons’ Eastern Conference clash with Toronto FC this Friday. The answer: he’s still waiting for his visa.
“Right now, [Héber is] in Brazil [waiting] for his visa,” said Torrent. “I hope he’s here next week.”
This would imply that Héber will miss Friday’s match against Toronto. With the time table of “next week” being put forward, it seems that NYCFC are banking on their newest addition being in America on time for City’s home game against the Montreal Impact on April 6.
Sorry, NYCFC fans. But it looks like the Bronx Blues will have to manage at least one more game with they already have.
