The United States men’s national team has been absolutely kicking up in the Gold Cup. In their three group stage matches, the the USMNT has looked dominant, scoring 11 goals and conceding none to this point. Their 1-0 win against Panama yesterday is sure to be remembered for Jozy Altidore’s bicycle kick game winner in the 66th minute, but fans of New York City FC might remember it a bit different.
In their final group stage match of the tournament, none other than Sean Johnson was in net to earn the clean victory. Though SeanJohn didn’t have much to do throughout the match — only needing to make a single save — a clean sheet is a clean sheet. And it’s always nice to see one of NYCFC’s own collect stats at the international level.
Johnson took to Twitter to thank fans who have supported him and the team to this point.
