FT: NYCFC defeats the Sounders 3-0 after a great second half!
After another underwhelming first half, Domé Torrent once again made key adjustments leading to a lopsided win in which the goals were scored by Maxi, Medina, and Ofori, all in the second half. That marks three wins in a row as City creeps further up the table and into the thick of this busy schedule.
87’: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!! Ebenezer Ofori!!!!
The Ghanaian took a shot from about 30 yards out and banged it! Ebe has been great since coming on earlier on both sides of the ball. 3-0 NYCFC!
84’: Taty Castellanos comes off for Ben Sweat
81’: That should have been a penalty.
77’: GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLL!!! Jesus Medina!
Taty Castellanos started the counterattack, then finished it with a brilliant ball to Medina for the tap-in! City extend their lead to 2-0!

62’: Ebenezer Ofori comes on for Alexandru Mitrita
58’: GOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! Maxi Moralez grabs the go-ahead goal!
It was a hectic sequence with Medina in the box, but it worked. Maxi was there to clean up the trash in the box. And though it hit a defender on the way, it counts the same. 1-0 NYCFC.

54’: Jesus Medina comes on for Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.
52’: It’s looking a little better, but we’re not quite there just yet. There seems to be communication issues.
The second half is underway! Can NYCFC shake off a lousy first half and make inroads towards another win?
HT: NYCFC and Seattle enter the halftime locker room scoreless.
City have been controlling the ball, but their chances have not been pretty, nor have they been abundant. I expect a similar tactical change to the one we saw on Saturday.
45’: Something must be done about Mitrita’s poor decision making. His final product in the attacking third has not been worth $9 million.
32’: Big save by Stuver!
12’: NYCFC are absorbing a lot of pressure right now. The Sounders have had the better chances to this point. City need to shape up and soon if they wish to avoid an early deficit.
5’: Mitrita flirts with goal. But the Romanian’s shot is directly at the Seattle keeper.
2’: That was close. A Seattle turnover leads to a New York City counterattack. Taty can’t convert.
We’ve begun in the Bronx! Can NYCFC make it 14 straight?
Rosters are out! Ronald Matarrita returns to the XI after returning from international duty this week. It seems that NYCFC will once again attempt to start this one with the 3-4-3 formation. Apart from Mata, the lineup remains relatively unchanged from Saturday.

All-time series: With their 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, New York City FC has extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games (all competitions) as they are set to host the Seattle Sounders at Yankee Stadium for a midweek summer matchup. NYCFC is possibly the hottest team in MLS right now, while the Sounders snapped a 3-game losing streak on Saturday with a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps at Century Link Field.
In four total matchups, City and Seattle are dead even with two wins apiece. Like Saturday, NYCFC will be missing star forward Héber due to injury, while goalkeeper Sean Johnson and center back Alex Callens are both still on international duty. However, the team has regained the services of left back Ronald Matarrita. Seattle, on the other hand, will be without stars Jordan Morris, Christian Roldan, and Raul Ruidiaz due to international duty.
NYCFC are likely the favorites in this one. But Seattle currently sit second place in the Western Conference and cannot be taken for granted.
This post will update with highlights and information as we receive it.
