So, New York City FC’s stadium announcement never came. That alone is enough to piss off most of the team’s fans. But frustrations over ticket pricing has now risen to the surface and is bringing NYCFC supporters to a boiling point.
Apparently, for some, season ticket prices for next season have risen as much as $40. That’s no bueno.
Not really sure I’ll renew for #NYCFC next year. Price (slightly) increasing for me and I can get cheap tickets thru 3rd party. Can’t really see much of a benefit to having season tickets, aside from my name in stone at our future stadium, if that ever comes...— Tev (@Tev_an) August 16, 2019
Obviously, fans of the club aren’t happy that some of their tickets have risen in price for 2020 considering the fact the NYCFC has not announced any plans to build a stadium of their own and get out of the dreaded and constantly maligned confines of Yankee Stadium.
And you know what? They’re right.
In case you haven’t noticed, New York City are hemorrhaging season ticket holders right now. The average attendance to an NYCFC game this season is at 20,420 which is only good for 9th best in the league (despite the fact the team are playing considerably well) and is down from last year’s average attendance of 23,211.
It seems with each passing year, the transparency between the club and its fans gradually decreases. And unless a stadium announcement is right around the corner, it’s only going to get worse from here.
