FT: #NYCFC mount a late comeback against Houston and win 3-2 thanks to a brace off the bench from Taty Castellanos, who is easily Man of the Match! What a finish! What a game!— Hudson River Blue (@hudsonriverblue) August 9, 2019
90’+3: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! Taty grabs a potential late game-winner on his own rebound!!! That’s a brace off the bench for the Argentinian!
83’: GOOOAL!!! Taty converts a header from a Keaton Parks cross. We’re tied up.
77’: Monotas fires one in from distance and puts Houston up 2-1. City have been up a man for an hour, by the way.
Medina also comes off for Maxi Moralez
66’: NYCFC are throwing the kitchen sink at Houston. Since the red card, it’s obvious the Dynamo ar elooking to hold on for the point. City have noticed this and I expect a few more offensive changes coming up.
58’: Taty Castellanos comes on for Eric Miller
Finally... we’re off in the second half.
We seem to be in a short weather delay.
HT: #NYCFC and Houston are tied 1-1 after 45 minutes. City with the advantage moving forward due to the one-man advantage after the red card.— Hudson River Blue (@hudsonriverblue) August 8, 2019
30’: Houston is now down to 10 men. Romell Quioto is sent off following an elbow on Ronald Matarrita. Robert Sibiga originally gave him a yellow before consulting with his assistant and showing Quioto a red.
26’: Houston levels the game from a T-Mac assist. Ugggh....
16’: GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!! NYCFC get the early advantage!
Jesus Medina was the star on this play, showing great ability to keep the ball before switching the attack. Mitrita does a few one-two’s before pouncing on a loose ball and putting it in. 1-0 NYCFC.
12’: Silky smooth sequence almost results in a goal for City. Houston’s defense is up to task.
9’: Gary Mackay-Steven flirts with goal. Good strike, better save.
We’re off in the Bronx! Can a rotational squad grab a key three points tonight?
Rosters are out! Quite an interesting lineup choice tonight. NYCFC have seemingly abandoned the 3-4-3 tonight in favor of the 4-3-3. Eric Miller and Gary Mackay-Steven are making their first-ever starts for the team tonight, and Jesus Medina is making his first start in quite a while. It appears from the team sheet that GMS is playing as a No. 10 tonight.
Also, it’s worth noting that T-Mac is starting for Houston tonight.

All-time series: Despite being a few days removed from a gut-wrenching road loss against Real Salt Lake, New York City FC should feel good about their chances this week. The Boys in Blue return to the Bronx tonight to take on the Houston Dynamo — a team that has struggled this season and is currently on the outside looking in as it pertains to the West Conference playoff race. In 10 home games, NYCFC have been nearly unbeatable and have only one defeat at Yankee Stadium this season.
A big storyline for tonight is Tommy McNamara’s return to Yankee Stadium after drafted by the Dynamo in the 2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft.
This post will update with highlights and information as we receive it.
