Sean Johnson had quite the two games this week. After returning early to New York City FC from international duty with the USMNT, the longtime netminder logged quality performances against both Toronto FC and the San Jose Earthquakes.
Against Toronto, Johnson was by and large the one responsible for NYCFC collecting a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw in which he denied the Reds of a penalty in the second half. Against San Jose, SeanJohn made two big stops early in the second half to help secure City a clutch 2-1 victory.
For his efforts, MLS awarded Johnson a spot on this week’s Team of the Week.
As an honorable mention of sorts, Alexandru Mitrita also made the bench for the TotW, possibly due to his big free kick goal against Toronto.
