City’s star winger has committed his prime years to the Bronx

Right winger Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has become somewhat of a cult hero in the Five Boroughs. Equipped with good pace, dribbling ability, and an acute eye for goal, ITS has proven himself as a constant threat in New York City FC’s attack.

Today, the club announced that they had re-signed Tajouri-Shradi to a multi-year extension.

In typical NYCFC fashion, no specific details regarding length or salary were revealed. But assuming Tajouri-Shradi was already under contract for the 2020 season, I’d imagine this new deal would have him under contract until after the 2022 season.

ITS expressed joy in signing a new deal with NYCFC, telling the team’s website: ““I’m really happy to extend my contract to stay here with NYCFC who from the first day has showed me so much love. I just want to keep going with this amazing Club in an incredible city.

“Since my first game at home, the fans have been amazing to me and the energy they give us every game is incredible. We have a really strong team and can achieve something bigger than the last few years this season. I’m excited for the start of the season and really happy to stay here for a few more years and win some titles with this amazing Club.”

Tajouri-Shradi’s re-signing continues the trend of NYCFC sticking by their main squad for the past two seasons. Keaton Parks’ was bought on a permanent transfer after spending the 2019 season with NYCFC on loan from Benfica. Alexander Callens, Alexander Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm, and Maxi Moralez have all signed lengthy extensions since after the 2018 season.

In 46 matches for the Blues, Tajouri-Shradi has netted 16 goals and assisted 7 others making him a huge threat in NYCFC’s attack. And as City approach their first full season with an attack consisting of Héber, Maxi Moralez, and Alexandru Mitrita, Shroddy Doddy’s production and contributions might just have an upward trajectory moving forward.

Great move for the Boys in Blue!
