I don’t know what it is about him. But newly appointed New York City FC manager Ronny Deila has a certain charm about him — you just want to see him succeed. And from the looks of it, supporters are already seeming to take a liking to him.
Yesterday, Deila had his first meet-up with Third Rail supporters. There, he talked about everything from the team’s 2020 goals to his view on young players coming through NYCFC’s Academy.
But there’s one promise that stood out just a bit.
According to Tony Larsen, Deila has promised fans that if NYCFC wins their first-ever MLS Cup in 2020, he will strip down to his skivvies.

It should be noted that Deila did something similar years ago. While managing Stormsgodset back in 2009, the Norwegian gaffer promised fans that if the club avoided relegation, he’d strip down to his underpants. Sure enough, Godset kept their place in the Norwegian top flight and Deila made good on his promise.
I don’t think anyone’s dying to see the former Celtic manager naked any time soon. But a sweet MLS Cup victory will surely be a treat!
