Weeks after being loaned out to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli, New York City FC winger Alexandru Mitrita made a debut worth noting today. In his first appearance with the club, Mitri came on as a substitute and scored what would ultimately be the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute.
Appearing as an attacking midfielder, Mitrita received a cross at the top of the box. After a dazzling first touch, the Romanian buried his attempt off the post and in to give Al-Ahli a 1-0 win over Al-Wehda. The win was enough to keep Al-Ahli at the top of the SPL standings through their first two games.
Of course, we all had jokes on Twitter.
to be fair if he was more open on that possession he'd be a waffle house— BLUE BALLS NYCFC (@BlueBallsPod) October 22, 2020

As good as it is to see Mitri living what could only be described as his best life in Saudi Arabia, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt to see him still display his immense talent in a non-NYCFC jersey.
Oh well. (sad face)
