My positive impressions from New York City FC’s 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact this past weekend cannot be overstated. Missing several key components to their squad, NYCFC weathered through an underwhelming first half to surge through the second with three goals. And rightfully so, Maxi Moralez has been given credit for a brilliant performance — which included a goal — in what was his first start since returning from a calf injury.
MLS named Moralez as the sole player in their weekly Team of the Week yesterday.

Having Maxi on the TotW is indeed warranted. But I couldn’t help but be bothered by one player’s omission from the list. That player would be Anton Tinnerholm. The Swedish right back was key in bringing home a victory on Saturday and even assisted Maxi’s goal.
I also feel that Ronny Deila deserved a shout for Coach of the Week for his work in dealing with a team that was missing Taty Castellanos, Maxime Chanot, and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.
But these are nitpicks. We’re glad to see Maxi continuing to get the props he deserves for being arguably the best attacking midfielder in Major League Soccer.
