After a resounding 5-2 Hudson River Derby victory over bitter rivals New York Red Bulls, Decision Day and all its madness draws near.
The last game of the season will be against the Chicago Fire who currently sit in 10th place and must secure a victory to compete in a play-in match or otherwise wait for results from Atlanta United, Inter Miami, and D.C. United.
As nerve-racking as Decision Day can be, New York City FC are safe from any threats and upsets. The Blues have safely secured a fifth place spot with sixth place New England unable to reach them in the points per game system being used this season.
Potential playoff rivals for City will be either Columbus Crew or Orlando City.
Things are about to get messy so bare with me: If City beat Chicago and Columbus lose to Atlanta, then City and Columbus will swap places on the table but still face each other in the first round of playoffs.
If Columbus wins by a two goal margin and Orlando loses, then City and Orlando will face each other in the playoffs.
Here's how the EAST is shaping up prior to #DecisionDay by @ATT.

Fortunately, Ronny Deila & Co. will be able to invest time in preparing for the playoffs as the dates for the first-round playoff games will take place sometime between November 21, 22 and 24.
