New York City FC’s second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals against Tigres UANL will take place tonight. Unfortunately, the club will have to make due without star goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

As announced on his Twitter yesterday, Johnson did not travel with the club due to being in close contact with a player who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Because of Johnson’s absence — as well as longtime backup keeper Brad Stuver not travelling with the team due to him being out of contract next month — NYCFC has made a deal with Orlando City SC to receive goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar on loan until after the tournament.

As of Friday, three NYCFC players had tested positive for COVID-19. According to Sporting Director David Lee, the club’s goalkeeper pool took the biggest hit.
